Bengaluru: The land of glory in the backdrop of molestation

Land of Cholas & Hoysalas and the “Silicon Valley of India”, Bengaluru is fifth most populous urban agglomeration in India. Around 12thcentury Hoysala king Veera Ballala II went to a forest on a hunting expedition, he lost his way and wondered around tired and hungry. An old poor woman in the forest helped the king and served him boiled beans. The grateful king named the place “benda-kaal-uru” (town of boiled beans); this is how “Bengaluru” got its name. Moral of the story is that the town named after the kindness of a woman is not able to protect the modesty of her women today. Statistic shows that more than 30% of crimes in Bengaluru are of molestation & rape. Bengaluru has topped the list for the maximum number of crimes committed against women across the State, according to the crime statistics compiled by the State police. Are we living in concrete jungles? Is this a sign of a human civilization? Nope!

Police must take stringent action on the incidents of crime and courts should pronounce the verdict on fast track. But that’s not enough; Policing was always there but dynamics within the society has changed. People has became machine as if they have lost the basic human nature of respecting one being. We don’t have time for others and many time for ourselves also. We are raising our kids to run a sprint race, just focus straight and run. Do not look at the person falling around, you just run and try to reach the mirage. Some succeed and some fail to reach anywhere and creates a huge gap of human struggle. There is a fight to gain if not then harm the one who is ahead.

Molestation of a working girl returning home by a delivery boy is not just a physical abuse, some or other way it’s bigotry of a man’s ego to see a women doing better than them, challenging their dominance in the society which was predominately man centric. These struggle is a must and unavoidable, it’s like throwing pebble in a muddy water to let the dirt settle down.

Nothing is going to stop women to rule the world and it should be like that only, the better species should take the ownership of this dying plant.
